Photographic Art
My belief in photographic art is that each image should have a life of it's own and should stand outside of the context of the shoot. Light, subject, composition... it all boils down to manipulating light in an artful way. This is what the eye & brain does...what the lens of my camera & film and sensors do...also, what my computer does. I see art everywhere.
Many of the great photographs taken since photography was invented have been made through creativity after the camera. This is why the darkroom is key to understanding the power of Photographic Art and in the digital darkroom more can be done in less time than ever before. I now live, like most of you, in a digital world. I have been shooting with digital equipment for nearly 8 years now. All images are processed and printed by me or Sherry here at Digital Reflections. This very important part of the photographic process is never left solely up to the computerchip in the camera or to a teenager behind some counter who may not share my artistic bent or want for excellence.

I am a photographer who has been practicing this "art" for more than 20 years. Not only learning from mentors like Mr. Critchfield who taught me studio lighting and darkroom techniques but also from the New York Institute of Photography. However, mostly I have learned from doing. Shooting thousands upon thousands of frames, creating and learning from new images.
